Academic Integrity Statement for Fall, 2000
I agree to abide by the principles of academic integrity generally accepted
at universities in the United States. I understand that these principles
include, but are not limited to, prohibition of the following:
- Submission of work authored by another person as my own. This includes
term paper ideas, outline, and contents.
- Improper or inadequate acknowledgement of sources used in preparing papers.
"Sources" includes journal articles, conference papers, textbooks, theses
and dissertations, work done by another student this quarter or previous
quarter(s), Internet-based sources such as USENET newsgroups and digests,
on-line works, etc.
- Allowing another student to copy or use my work for submission as their own,
this quarter or in the future, for any reason.
I understand that material further explaining academic integrity
is available at the Dean of Students Office in Murphy Hall,
and I agree to consult that Office if I am unsure whether any action (or
inaction) on my part might violate University policy.
I understand that University penalties for academic integrity violations
may include expulsion, suspension, and/or course failure, among others.
I further acknowledge that ignorance is not an excuse for academic
integrity violations.
