How to Pronounce "Kuenning"

It ought to be easy to pronounce Geoff Kuenning's last name, but somewhere in the history of his family it was decided that the "u" should be silent. There are actually two English words, "guess" and "guest," which have the same (mis-)feature. Anyway, Geoff prefers the pronunciation "KEN-ing" unless you're a native German speaker, in which case the original pronunciation of "Künning" tickles his fancy.
