Here are all the study-cards I made. Check them out and use them if they're helpful!
Cracking the GRE Literature Subject Test, 6th Edition (Graduate School Test Preparation) is helpful for test-prep advice and general lists, but it's not enough to ace the test.
I found this website to be very helpful, as it examined exactly what works appeared on a number of GRE tests, thus helping you studying the right material. It's the most valuable outside site I found during my studies.

Checkout the Norton or Longman Anthologies of both British and American Literature. Read all the introductions to each time-period. These are very helpful. The Norton has an online version of their historical biographies as well as multiple choice quizzes and summaries that are extremely helpful! Remember that the GRE focuses much more heavily on British Lit, so plan accordingly. These can be very expensive, so get them used if you can! Older editions are fine, since the principal material does not change much. I personally prefer the Longman Anthologies.

The Penguin Dictionary of Literary Terms and Literary Theory (Penguin Dictionary)(Trust me; you'll use this book again and again.)
The Concise Oxford Companion to Classical Literature (Oxford Paperback Reference)
The Columbia Dictionary of Modern Literary and Cultural Criticism is also helpful for those who do not have a good background in literary theory and criticism. The tests I've seen had a surprising number of theory questions--from Barthes and Foucault, to Judith Butler and Kristeva. Know your theorists and theoretical movements!
A Handbook to Literature (Handbook to Literature): I just got this book and so far, I love it. It's really a great source to have at your desk.
The GRE still tests on poetic meter, rhyme, and poetic forms. Wikipedia provides a good overview, as does this site. (The second link really has a lot of good information, even if its appearance isn't great.)

Livejournal, a blogging site, has a community called applyingtograd that is a great asset for those who have questions and answers about the process ; it is a wonderful and supportive community. Recently, a LJ community devoted to the Literature GRE has popped up. A member by the name of Vireo has made some great notes on the Norton's historical sections.

Writing Your Dissertation in Fifteen Minutes a Day: A Guide to Starting, Revising, and Finishing Your Doctoral Thesis: Really, this is an incredibly useful book!
Revising Prose (5th Edition) is a good book on how best to revise academic writing.
Professors as Writers: A Self-Help Guide to Productive Writing: This book might as well be called "Grad Students As Writers!"
