Dave Ratner's Home Page

A picture of me attempting to smile Congratulations! You have stumbled upon my home page. You are traveler number counter. Now that you're here, perhaps I can interest you in something. (Perhaps not).

Perhaps you've seen me jumping around on the net somewhere.

Perhaps you really just came here looking for my pgp key.

Hey...I GRADUATED!

I just recently graduated with a PhD in distributed systems from UCLA. Now that the entire process is done, I can honestly say that I am never going to school again! Actually, 6 years from Bachelors to PhD is well below the average, so I guess I did something right. A bunch of people guessed when I would actually graduate, but the winner was my old friend Allie Jones.

I am now working at Software.com. And I have a brand new baby boy, Ryan Benjamin. Additionally, I just bought a new house in the Santa Barbara area, using Randy Freed.

Perhaps School and Research

Below you can read about a number of research projects I've worked on and some of my research efforts. Perhaps you'd like to read about

Perhaps you would like to contact me.

Or maybe my previous coworkers are more interesting. (Although personally, I doubt it!)

Perhaps Other Interesting Things

Perhaps you'd like to learn more about some of my interests:

Perhaps Programs

Perhaps you would like the access count program that I wrote to generate Web access counts, or a Perl version of from originally written for Linux, since it has no "from" utility.

These programs are Shareware, and can be freely distributed, as long as the author list and shareware notice remain intact.

Perhaps Cheers

Beer Perhaps you'd like to learn more about that great television show Cheers, whose death was deeply mourned by all, by testing yourself at some Cheers trivia.

Perhaps you'd like to learn about life from the mighty Norm Peterson, philosopher and beer-drinker.

Or perhaps you'd like to hear his opinion of women. (His opinions about women are not representative of mine, the Ficus project, the UCLA CSD department, UCLA in general, the greater Los Angeles area, or even California).

For more information on Cheers, check out the unofficial Cheers home page.

Perhaps Nothing

So you found your way to my page and didn't find anything of interest. D'oh!.

So sorry. Of course, this page is always under construction, so please come back soon.
