On August 26th, we got engaged on the parapet of Rochester Castle, in the city of Rochester, England. Alison posted the following shortly afterwards in her blog:
"Oh yeah, Kevin took my announcement that I wished to get engaged
at the top of Castle Rochester seriously, and after I hugged him
saying "so I guess you forgot to propose," he called my bluff. Not
that this surprises the legions who heard me announce this at the top
of the castle the first time, just figured we'd been dating so long we
were, or those who Kevin took aside and told, but for the rest of you
blokes, I thought I'd fill you in."
And Kevin wrote:
"So, as everyone who reads Alison's journal
knows by now, we got engaged on Wednesday at the top of Rochester
Castle! I'm really excited--it's been unofficial for a while, but now
at least it's official. The ring is a round sapphire set with
diamonds--I picked it out by myself, and was terrified the whole
time!"
Alison's ring is a beautiful blue natural sapphire set with four
diamonds, on a white gold filigree band. We got the ring from Sarah Leonard Fine Jewelers in the Westwood Village, near UCLA.
